The first option is backup for virtual machines running in an IaaS environment. This enables clients to manage their backup and restore processes from the same VMware Cloud Director self-service interface they use for managing their IaaS services. There’s no need for additional interfaces or complex integrations. Pricing is simple and transparent—based on the allocated storage size and the number of protected virtual machines, rather than actual stored data volume. This ensures cost predictability while allowing customers to dynamically scale their storage as needed.
The second option, Cloud Backup Target, is ideal for clients already using Veeam in their on-premises data center. This provides fast and secure backups to an offsite immutable cloud storage, offering protection against ransomware attacks. The initial full backup can even be performed via portable storage, avoiding delays caused by large data transfers over the internet. As with the first option, pricing is based on the number of protected devices (virtual machines, physical servers, or workstations) and the allocated storage size.
